What resort replaced the old Allegro?

In the early 2000's (maybe 2002) we visited T&C for the first time. We stayed at the Allegro Resort (AI) and fell in love with Grace Bay. The following year and every trip since then we stayed at Beaches. What ever happened to the Allegro? Did they knock it down and build a new resort with a different name? Where exactly was it? Does any T&C expert know?

The old Allegro property is now part of the Seven Stars development.

My memory of Allegro was having to go there when we were short on cash.

At the time, no ATMs on-island would accept our card, so I had to take my credit card to the Allegro casino for a cash advance. Seems like they charged 10%, which I luckily won back from a slot machine on the way out the door. :-)

Ahh, those were the days...

You made me smile.

Actually, I forgot they had a casino. I remember not wanting to ever leave the beach. The water and weather were perfect that first trip to T&C. We have never had a trip with such calm water since. Also, their chairs and floats all had the name "Turquoise Resort" printed on them.

Those chairs were left over from the "ramada turquoise reef" and the casino was the "american casino".

American Casino sounds familiar. I'm starting to remember it now. If memory serves, it was mostly very outdated slot machines. Is the Ramada Turquoise Reef still in business?

The Ramada Turquiose Reef was a beautiful place to stay, before the Allegro bought it, and changed the exterior. I loved the Ramada.

Seven Stars came in knocked down the Allegro and built three seven story building in it's place

The Ramada TR, and the Allegro no longer exist :(

Thanks for all the info. It's nice to know that there are so many informed helpful people on this forum.

Four days from today I will be sitting on the beach at Grace Bay. Can't wait, even though the weather reports show rain the entire time we are there. Not just showers, either! If that actually happens, it will be the third trip in a row to T&C that we had rain every day. I'm beginning to think we are the cause. LOL

And it seemed like it took forever for them to tear down the Allegro -

Why the sad face about the Allegro being knocked down Camke? Laura and I stayed there on our first visit. What an awful place, we hated it. But it still goes to show you that TCI is so awesome that you will fall in love with it even if you stay in extremely bad accomodations. I can't say we were really sad as we watched it get bulldozed (and believe it or not, we were next door at OCW as it was happening - clear view as Pinnacle wasn't there yet). What made us sad is the monstrosity that became Seven Stars. Sort of a devil you know is better than the devil you don't know scenario. The rooms were not well kept (mold and bugs), the food was terrible and the grounds were not well maintained. I guess I should have prefaced that with the fact that our visit was just months before it closed down.

The beach was fantastic with the long dock there and the view from our room was unmatched by any room we have had since. The AI booze wasn't terrible. One thing that will stick with me forever though is that the sand in all the common ashtrays on the resort was raked smooth and had the little paw print logo of Allegro Resorts imprinted in it. Almost made you not want to put a cig out in it cuz it looked so nice. :-)

Provobum,

I didn't like the Allegro . I said I loved the Ramada, Then the Allegro came in a changed the exterior. It hated what the Allegro did to the Ramada. It looked awful. I never stayed there, because I was sad everytime I looked at it after what they did.

My bad. I was just going off your statement...

"The Ramada TR, and the Allegro no longer exist :("

and the sad face. You know me...always trying to stir up trouble. But it really was an awful place and it wasn't exactly cheap either.
