While I appreciate honest reviews

I seriously can't stand people that go on vacation and have to nit pick everything about their trip that was *bad*. I pretty much take all "reviews" with a grain of salt but some people need to seriously loosen up and enjoy their vacation instead of looking for things wrong!

Amen! Glad to read that StillH2O and Family did have a wonderful vacation in spite of the shortcomings they encountered. That is the vacation "spirit" it helps to have.

Thanks ziggy60 -I agree with you. I found the review to be informative and honest. Reviews are supposed to be subjective -they are personal opinions about an experience. It is up to the reader to take what they want away from the review.

Hey, my initial response to the OP was made before any mention of a particular review.

Personally, I don't read or use the "reviews" on TripAdvisor for our own travel planning, but I do appreciate the fact that StillH20Mom came to the forum. :-)

Guess I'll take a look at what she had to say...

Thought the good and the bad were presented from their perspective and gave an average rating....I would be disappointed if we spent $13K on a vacation!!! (we could get several trips for that price).

Just read StillH20mom's review for the first time, and found it very well written, documented, and an honest opinion.

One thing I've learned from my years of reading and contributing to these forums, is that people seem to fall on one side of the fence or the other, when it comes to all-inclusive vs. non-AI vacations.

Just the fact that StillH20mom and her family found a terrific tropical experience at Da Conch Shack gives me a hint that she and her family would have probably been happier going non-AI (as are we).

Hey, we're all different, and we all learn from our experiences. :-)

I just read the review too and thought it was very well written and not nit pickin' at all. If I ever spent that kind of coin on a vacation I would expect more than they experienced too. I am with Desi that they would have been much better suited to the non all inclusive experience on Provo, but it is hard to know that going in. Some people love AI's, and some are better off doing something else...

I hope you return to see some more of TCI. It's a pretty big place, and even seeing just Provo does not capture it all.

I think sometimes folks are swayed by advertisements, photos, and media presentations. Those are meant to sell the product. People go with bigger than life expectations and get disappointed. Sometimes it is good to hear a good HONEST review to weigh both sides. Real honest to goodness guests versus those who are trying to impress with the "best vacation ever" story and how much we can afford to pay somehow gets imphasized. I prefer the good, bad, and the ugly along with what was fantastic so I can make my own decision as to what works for me and my family. Different strokes for different folks. Doesn't make them necessarily wrong and I can't stand them; just have different taste. Different is ok. But it is still only a persons opinion and not all will agree. Sometimes we just agree to disagree. No harm done.
