Carribean locale similar to harbour island?

We went to harbour island last year and LOVED the small island vibe. We also noticed a lot of families with kids and babies. Flash forward a year later and we now have a baby of our own. I don't necessarily want to repeat harbour island this trip but I'd like to go somewhere with the same kind of small island, laid back, family vibe. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Gia

Maybe Hopetown on Elbow Cay in the Abacos- we also saw a lot of families on Isla Mujeres in Mexico and even in St. John, USVI.

Another vote for St John. You might even consider Nosassara Costa Rica

I've gotten the nicest responses from the nicest people from CAT Island.

Unfortunately, this trip we aren't making it to Cat Island - just Harbour Island and Spanish Wells. I must've sent 30 emails to a variety of accommodation places on 3 different islands and OVERWHELMINGLY Cat Island people are THE friendliest. Sammy T included !

Since you are looking at the Caribbean an not just bahamas...ck out Bequia in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Lovely island with very friendly people. Beaches and beautiful water Takes laid back to a whole new level. Very active Trip Advisor forum.

Karen4912: Just so you know, Pineapple Fields and Rainbow Inn are in Eluthera, not Cat Island! ;-)

GiaNYC: While not a small island vibe, I love Anguilla as much as Harbour island. You do need to get around by car, but i've taken my then 18 month year old and she loved it. (Actually she's loved everywhere.)

And while different than Harbour Island, I think the most kid friendly beaches in the world are in Turks and Caicos. It is a 12 mile beach lined by by condos, so it doesn't have that small golf cart vibe, the beaches are devine for babies and toddlers.

St. john has a nice vibe, and the Westin is family friendly, but closer to what you're looking for I would also check out Little dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. great resort, gorgeous beaches and stunning views, the calm waters of LDB are terrific for babies.

Elbow Cay in Abacos is similar to Harbour Island, it does have a more casual vibe.

Ultimately, Harbour Island is pretty unique, with golf cart transportation, gorgeous beach, and gorgeous town. Virgin Gorda may be the closest in "experience", but with hills instead of flat.
