Aviasca Airlines

We are interested in flying from Mexico City to Tuxtla Guttierez and then on to San Cristobal before we come to SMA. Apparently Aviasca Airlines is a lower cost carrier that flies to Tuxtla. Is anyone familiar with it?

I have never traveled Aviacsa but I haven't heard anything too bad about them. They serve a large number of cities. It is not as cheap as the various low-cost airlines but not as expensive as Mexicana or AeroMexico and it is the only low (or "lower") cost airline that uses Mexico City airport. If you book them on a Tuesday you sometimes get very low fares (you don't have to travel on a Tuesday, just book the tickets).

The yave a sale going on until Sunday, where you can fly round trip anywhere in 2008 for 2008MXN taxes included.

I've used them in the past and they were fine.

However, it's been reproted that some of their planes' pieces need replacement and they have done so due to strong competition from new airlines. This leads to a risk of cannibalization, where they take pieces from retired planes and put them on others, which is legal but has to be controled by the authorities, otherwise they might lose their licence.

Those are the news, I don't know if they're true or not.
