Drive time from kamloops to Whistler?

We will be leaving kamloops on a Tuesday in September. Plus is it a nice drive. We have never taken this route before to coast. Only reason we are is we will have family with us from UK. Is it worth the trip?

Thanks

Yes, it's a scenic drive. West of Kamloops, the land is dry and desert-y. West of Lillooet, the road gets pretty twisty and turny, but it's all paved now. Pemberton is a beautiful valley and worth a side trip on the secondary road to the north of the town center for a short way and back.

It's about a 4 hour drive for those familiar from Kamloops to Whistler. maps.google.ca is a good resource.

There have been forest fires near Lillooet this summer which have caused a lot of damage. You might see a fair bit of toasted landscape.

From Kamloops there is 2 ways to go. South west or North west. Northwest is a better drive if your looking to take pictures and not sit in traffic. Taking Hwy 1 will take you thru the lowermain land and no matter what time you go its a slow drive because of traffic. I would give yourself 5 hours for either way.
