Gift idea suggestions to bring home?

Will be on a ski trip at Whistler, what would make a good food item gift idea to bring back to the folks at the office? Thanks.

Actually, I would look at First Nations art. You can find some lovely things like knit hats and shopping bags with distinctive First Nations designs on them.

Honey, from a BC apiary. Try Marketplace IGA at Whistler.

Whatever you decide on will need to pass customs inspection:

The classics are smoke salmon and good quality maple syrup. You can find packaged salmon in wooden boxes with First Nation motifs at most tourist shops. Maple syrup is everywhere but again tourist shops will carry the more touristy packaging of maple leaf shaped bottles etc. The Vancouver airport will also have both of these.

I have a friend from the U.S. that visits fairly often so he doesn't buy tourist food things as much as Shreddies cereal, chocolate bars not available in the U.S. HP sauce ( although I believe this is more readily available in the U.S. ), Ketchup potato chips and all - dressed potato chips. Go figure.

Don't know if the shop hours would work for you, but at Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver there is The Salmon Shop where they have fresh smoked salmon which can travel for 36 hours with a gel pack. Their fish is excellent to eat. Have a look at their website here and click on "salmon shop" to see their information. Going there would add about 30-40 min onto your return to Vancouver.

When we travel, we sometimes take Rogers Chocolates with us as gifts -

They are a Victoria based company that has been manufacturing chocolates since the late 1890s. According to their website, they do have an outlet in Whistler.

hi

in the cheap gift range -Smarties are the equivalent to M&Ms

and i second Rogers chocolates in the more expensive category.

Smoke salmon is an acquired taste; looks good but we regifted when we got one of those. and

Okanagan Ice wines - which are ver sweet desert wines for another idea.

I'd actually go with Purdy's Chocolates. They're a Vancouver company and the chocolate's creamier.

I don't know if I'd opt for maple syrup seeing how maple syrup's produced thousands of miles away from Whistler. Smoked salmon products are typically "west coast".

There are lots of shops in Whistler where you will see a variety of gifts for every budget and personality.....from the Whistler Memories post-cards featuring beautiful vistas (including a series of naked skiiers with strategically placed objects) to Whistler Pins, stickers, magnets, canned moose, coffee mugs.....you know, all the typical stuff. You can search for stores by type on the following link:
