Micro brewery with fantastic food and atmosphere

We are staying at the empire Landmark Hotel this weekend and would like to have a nice dinner at one of the micro breweries. I'm looking for a fantastic meal with a nice atmosphere. And a great beer would go nicely. Any ideas???

The Alibi Room is where I'd go. Not a microbrewery per se but has an outstanding selection of craft beers and good food.

For Japanese there are many options but the one we like most is Kingyo on Denman Street just near your hotel.

Right across the street from your hotel is Hapa Izakaya, a Japanese bistro with a fun energetic atmosphere.

You may have to go to Squamish or Seattle for a good microbrewery.

Kingyo is a good suggestion. If you like Ramen then at 1690 Robson Street, near Denman is Ramen Santouka.

The micro breweries in Vancouver feel fairly mainstream. If it's a nice fun place for drinks and food, Gastown, where the Alibi Room is has some choices. Irish Heather for one.

Yaletown Brewing, in of course Yaletown is fine as well, but even though I haven't eaten there in a long time, I get the impresson that the food will not be outstanding.

The suggestion to go to Squamish is a good one since you're on your bike. The Howe Sound Brewing Company makes some of my favourite beers and the food is good. Beautiful drive on the Sea to Sky Highway. Less than an hour from Vancouver.

Definitely go to Howe Sound Brewing Co - it's the perfect craft beer-lover's road trip, especially for someone on a Harley!

Agree with others that Vancouver's own microbreweries (the ones with their own pubs) aren't anything brag-worthy, but there are a few pubs that specialize in local microbreweries which would be worth checking out:

Alibi Room

The Whip Cafe

BierCraft

Rogue Wetbar

St Augustines

Portland Craft
