Travelling from Victoria to Vancouver

We are looking at options for travelling between Victoria and Vancouver early Sept. Travelling one way with luggage (1 barrel bag each approx 20Kg). We are on a tight schedule staying 2 nights in Victoria and 2 nights in Vancouver before the Rocky Mountaineer. BC Connector seems to take along time and only goes in afternoon so reducing our time in `Vancouver. Looking at the seaplane and helicopter options. Is there a personal weight restriction as well as luggage? Many thanks in advance.

It takes 4 hours to travel from Victoria to Vancouver, by car and ferry, by public transit and ferry or by Connector and ferry. Flying takes 35 minutes. The seaplane does have baggage weight limits but can be overcome by buying a higher fare flight. There is no personal weight restriction.

The Connector makes many trips across the Strait. You must be using specific settings in the purchase template options. Where do you want to leave from in Vic and go to in Van?

Set the fields in the Connector reservation template this way.

From: Victoria, Capital City Station. (This is a 550 metre, 7 min walk from the Embassy to 721 Douglas St.)

To: Vancouver Bus Station.

Then, next step.

Pick up location: Capital City Station

Drop off Location: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. This is kitty corners to the Hyatt, a 200 metre, 3 minute walk. (Plus a minute for each "Walk" sign to come on for you to cross the street.)

This gives you 6 departure times from 07h45 to 17h45.

I chose a random date of 8 Sept.

Helijet helijet.com/scheduled-airline/tickets-fares/ says:

"BaggageAllowance: 2 pieces per person, 50 lbs in total, for all fare classes.

No cabin baggage, oversize/excess baggage taken on a space available basis, at no added charge."

Harbour Air seaplanes harbourair.com/book-a-flight/… luggage rules appear more complicated and possiblly less generous, see www.harbourair.com/book-a-flight/luggage/.

But the seaplane flight is more fun.

Harbor Air also go to YVR south with higher luggage limit . You would then take shuttle to main terminal and Canada Line to downtown.

You can pay a higher fare for more luggage on Harbour Air for downtown to downtown.

The Go Gold fare gives you 50 lbs of luggage per person. Is each of your bags 20kg?? seems like a lot....

It's a wonderful "flight see" tour as well. I've done both HA and Helijet more than once and much prefer Harbor Air.
