Taking the Bus to Butchart Gardens

We'll be taking the Black Ball Ferry to Victoria and hope to take the #75 bus to the gardens. What kind of coins or currency will we need to pay for day passes? Is there a place near the ferry terminal where we can get some Canadian currency?

Google is a wonderful thing!

As far as getting Canadian currency, check with your bank at home, and see if they have reciprocal agreements with any banks in BC, to use the ATM machines. They will be the most convenient way for you to get some Canadian cash, at a better rate than anything a store in Victoria will give you.

Zoom in on the map in this link, to see where they are located.

Well then.... copy and paste the second one for locations of the ATMs downtown. TD, Scotia Bank, and Royal Bank are among the ones listed.

A day pass on Transit in Victoria costs $5. A single fare is $2.50 so a day pass is a good deal as it allows you to ride transit all day, not just two single trips. Exact fare in coins.

In this map you can see the blue dotted lines in the water where the Coho Ferry (Black Ball) arrives at Victoria harbour. As mentioned, you could check your bank to find which Canadian Banks are in your network, then head to the relevant bank if you can find it in the map. Maximum 20 min round trip walk.

But I would go to the purser (or wherever) on the Coho and change a bit of money into Canadian there.

(Hey, our dollar topped 80¢ to your dollar today!) We are going to have to get going again down to Bellingham and Seattle for cross boarder shopping because that rate is almost at par.) :-)

Watch which #75 you take as some of them go all the way to the Gardens, but some skip that turnoff. Google and the bus driver will be able to guide you to the right departure!

Even if you aren't on the #75 that goes right to the gardens, it goes really close. A two min walk down the hill. The driver will announce what stop to get off at.
