There's a few in the south near Victoria but the best British Columbia wines still come from the Southern Interior of the province around Kelowna and Penticton. For something more 'unique', BC has a variety of ice-wines that unfortunately don't come cheap.

Come on, VivaVacations, there are more than two dozen wineries on Vancouver Island and nearby Gulf Islands, and more in the Fraser Valley. There are also several cideries and even a distillery. Many many varieties of good red wine, including some like Agria rarely found elsewhere.

I agree, if someone from outside the country wants to know what's on Vancouver Island they really don't want to hear about Oliver or Kelowna! The wineries on the Island are good, plentiful, and would keep someone busy for several days! And I really do like visiting the Merridale Cidery near Duncan - nice restaurant.

Wineries on Vancouver Island aren't just on the southern Island and the lower gulf Islands. Marshwood has been open on Quadra Island for some time and the Beaufortwines jsut opened in the Comox Valley.

I agree, the Okanagan has great wines, but lets give these Island wines a run for their money too :)
