Winter tires to Silver Star Mountain?

Hi, I am looking to rent a car to drive from Vancouver to Silver Star Mountain, hopefully around the end of Feb/beginning of March. Can anyone please let me know if I will need to rent a car with winter tires? If so will mud and snow tires be sufficient?

You can use M&S IF they have the official M&S rating stamped on the tire. New highway regulations for BC specify either Snow ( snowflake) or M&S.

FWIW All season radials aren't always M&S.

We've driven many times to Silver Star in December, Feb and March and have been fine with M&S..the biggest challenge is the Coquahalla. The road up to SS is generally very well maintained.

here's the logo required as per the highways dept...won't copy.. will link
