Extend Whistler visit or travel over to Vernon

I booked 3 nights at Whistler then 4 nights at Outback Resort Vernon at the beginning of July. I've not found a lot of information on lake water sports near that hotel and it appears to be rather remote with a 20 mins drive to get to Vernon + additional drive time to other areas. We have 2 teens with us - would it be more entertaining for them to be in Whistler longer and skip Vernon? (visiting Vancouver Island in the previous week).

Instead of Vernon consider one of the resorts in Kelowna. Much more central with activities for teens and adults.

Manteo, Hotel Eldorado, Delta Grand are a few to check out.

For Kelowna there are quite a few hotels in the downtown area within a few blocks of the waterfront. This would also give the teens lots to do in the evening. You can also plan a hike or bike ride on the KVR to go see the trestles.

If you are in Kelowna on a Sat morning it is worth a trip to Penticton for the open air market +on a nice sunny day you can go tubing down the channel. or spend some money on some seadoos.

you can go to Kelowna via the Stein Valley #12 https://goo.gl/maps/xlWYQ or via Duffy Lake Road https://goo.gl/maps/FLBWN
