Cottage on the Beach in Alma, NB

My wife and I hope to visit in August, 2008 and are wondering about Thankful Too Fisheries "Cottage on the Beach". Specifically, whether it is a nice accommodation and whether it is on or off the beaten path.

We were also wondering about the Parkside Village Inn in Alma in terms of whether we can expect much noise at night or from traffic.

Thank you for your assistance in our trip planning.

The Parkside Village Inn is quite old, but I do know they have renovated some rooms recently. They are on the main street in Alma. Noise at night should not be a problem, Alma is a very small village.

The Cottage on the Beach is steps from the beach but also unfortunately steps away from a commerical outlet. That may or may not be a probem with you. With plans to stay in the area in July,we are looking into "Captain's Lookout Cottages" which are 15-20 minutes outside of Alma. They are relatively new, 2000, I believe.

If a small inn (bed and breakfast type)is of interest, I have been told the Cliffside suites are beautiful.

Some of the cottages around that area are very old and do not have good reviews, please be careful. I know that bad accommodations can ruin a vacation. Good luck on your planning.

I didn't care for Captain's Lookout Cottages. Not near anything and small. I do love Ashak on the bay. The cottages are large though, sleeping 8 to 11, on Dennis Beach which is the most beautiful, practically deserted beach. We normally stay in the chalets in Fundy National park.

If you are looking for a comfortable accommodation right in the village I'd recommend the Captain's Inn B&B.Parkside Village Inn is also clean and comfortable.

I have also heard good things about Falcon Ridge Inn.

For a nice and economical accomodation right in Fundy NP (just up the hill from Alma), I'd recommend the Fundy Highlands Inn and Chalets. Chalets include kitchen facilities.
