Hi...My husband and I looking forward to attending the Hike the Highland Festival September 13-22 and plan to camp in a small trailer. Our first time out! We are looking for somewhere central to the festival and were thinking of Ingonish since a few of the evening events are located there. If there is a better area to base ourselves we are open to that. What we are looking for is suggestions on campgrounds that will have electrical hookups, clean showers and bathrooms. As newbies we are not sure if to go with a private campground or provincial/national. Is one option better than the other? Hope someone out there can guide us with the decisions. Thanks for the help.

Here are some campground listings:

I also looked at the website, clicked on the map showing the hikes and searched nearby for 'camping.' Here is the map: http://goo.gl/maps/IWa4U

There is a reservation system for the National Park now.
