Parking in downtown Halifax

Hi, I will be visiting Halifax and stay in a downtown hotel on July 1 & 2. I have a couple of questions about parking:

1, I read a brochure that says "All on-street metered parking is free between 6:00 pm and 8:00 am and on weekends and holidays.", does the maximum time on the meter still apply, or I can park a whole night on weekends and holidays?

2, Is Capital Health Parking Services on Robie St. open to public or its patients only? From google street view, it looks like public, but not sure.

Thanks a lot!

1. you can park at any meter evenings and weekends for free, unless otherwise specified (and that means unless it's a private parking lot and it's posted that you have to pay 24-7). Don't put any money in the meter on evenings and weekends.

2. anybody can park at Capital Health on Robie, but it's expensive.

Thanks Expert. So there is no time limit at night or on weekends and holidays. That's great!

Where are you staying? If you are expecting to park your car on a weekend, downtown, on a street and be able to come and go as you please, you may be dissappointed. At 6 PM on a Friday night, it is challenging to find a spot anywhere near the restaurant scene and especially if there is something going on at the Metro Centre.

We'll be staying in Mahone Bay but plan to visit Halifax. Where should we park to ride the Harbour Hopper or walk along the waterfront?

We always park quite a few blocks from downtown and then walk. We have our favorites. Look in the area of Summer Street and west (away from Harbour). Summer Street crosses Spring Garden road up from the harbour. If you need to be closer to the waterfront you will need to find a parking lot or garage most likely as this area is very busy in summer evenings.
