Check this out...it looks a hit...
Hello Jettasian.
I have heard it is awesome, thanks for posting the link for everyone to check out!!
Best wishes.
Hello Jettasian,
I checked the website and it look awesome. I will be in Toronto during the week fo Aug 12-Aug 19, we are staying in Messissuaga, instead of downtown. How hard is it to drive from our hotel in Messissuaga to the Chinese Lantern event? Is it hard to find parking at the event?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
Hello.
It is not difficult driving from Mississauga to Ontario Place. If you are not driving during rush hour and if there are no unexpected delays, it takes approximately 30 minutes. (Of course the amount of time can be influenced by which end of Mississauga you are staying in).
Check out the link Jettasian has provided. On the left side of the page under the "getting here" heading it has a lot of very helpful information including whiich routes to take from different areas of the city, as well as parking information.
Good luck
Our family of 6 went last night and it was terrific! The lanterns are spectacular! If you arrive before dark, watch the free Imax movie first (First Emperor of China or Pandas) that is only 30-40 minutes. Enjoy!
Thank you luklka for that report, it sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing.
By the way, the World Dragon Boat Race will be here in mid August as well... I don't have much info though...
Lukika,
I am looking forward to this festival too. We are planning to go on a weekday. Was it crowded? Did they have food vendors there?
Luckily (?) we we went on Wednesday evening so I'm not certain of the weekend traffic. I would guess to give yourself more time so you won't feel rushed. Again since it was Wed there were only 3 food vendors & a few more market vendors so they may have more during the weekend. Please bring CASH as these vendors don't accept debit or credit cards.
My friend went on Sat, he said it was very crowded, with long line-up just to get in.
There are 2 movies showing. He recommened to see 1st movie, then walk around, then see 2nd movie. By late night, it will be less people, so it's easier to take pictures etc.
The first movie starts at 8pm. Second movie starts at 9:15 (I think) and the first movie will repeat at 10:30pm etc. Each film is 45min long.
