Oakville to Timmins and Cochrane

Hi

Please can you tell me the best 'family friendly' route to Timmins and Cochrane. We are thinking of travelling up there for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Otherwise in the Christmas break - If this is even possable with the weather. We are interested in seeing and doing most things! We do know it is a long way and no where near Quebec!!!

Thanks

Hi OakvilleButtercup;

By "family friendly route" do you mean you are looking for driving directions or are you asking about public transportation options ?

Best Regards

I would head up to Barrie on the 400 - from there, you basically have 2 choices. Highway 11 through North Bay or continue on the 400 to Parry Sound then 69 to Sudbury, then onto 144 to Timmins and then Cochrane. I think I would head up through North Bay and continue up 11 - Timmins is a short detour from 11 on 101, but 11 is an easier more direct drive IMO. I haven't been up 144 in a long time, so I can't comment on quality if the roads. HWY 11 probably has more roadside stops and restaurants along the way than 144, but as I previously said I haven't been up that road for some time so things could be different now.
