Thriftlodge Cochrane

We booked 2 nights in advance and after the first night, hotel cleaning staff cleaned out our refrigerator, we came home late(after the train)with nothing to eat or drink. When I enquired about this, the lady behind the desk became agitated, called in the cleaning staff, fought with them, with me, and became very indignant that nothing wrong had been done. No apology offered, twice repeated that she would pay for the missing items, but never made good on it. This is the worst hotel service I have ever encountered, and I can't seem to find a head office or a contact to look into this. I would expect that when a mistake is made, you apologize and try to make good for it, not get hostile and indignant about it. Anybody with any advice on how to resolve this? It was only about $30-$40 worth of groceries and toiletries, but it was a major inconvenience, and the confrontation was most upsetting. I don't think this unprofessional behaviour should be tolerated in the hotel industry, and should be looked into.

Hi 5151mustang;

As a new user of TripAdvisor, you may not know that the forums are for travel related discussions, not for accommodation reviews.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/help/what_the_forums_are_not

Please take a moment and write a review of the hotel. Many more people read the reviews than the forums when researching accommodations.

As for lodging a complaint;

I would first start with a telephone call to the hotel's manager. If you don't like the answers you get from the manager, I would then suggest lodging a complaint with the chain's management. Contact forms and telephone numbers can be found on their website.

Hi 5151Mustang,

Welcome to the COCHRANE TRAVEL FORUM…

And as you are a New Member to TripAdvisor… a BIG Welcome Aboard as well !!

I have to agree with all that my esteemed colleague RESCUE TEAM has said here… do take the time to write a HOTEL REVIEW (Button to the left of this screen) it will have far more longevity than posting comments here in the TRAVEL FORUM. And I also believe you should complain to Head Office… In Canada TriftLodge is part of the TraveLodge chain = http://www.travelodge.ca

Also something to note for future reference…

TA TIP – TripAdvisor is an awesome Trip Planning Tool… and the motto is “Know the TRUTH… Then Go”. If you had consulted the COCHRANE HOTEL REVIEWS Section here on TA (again that button to the left of this screen) you’d have discovered that there are 6 Hotels Listed… and all of them have been Reviewed previously by TA Members except for the TriftLodge. So you truly went into this situation “blind”… Best always to consult the REVIEWS first so that you’d have a better idea of what is available… and what you’ll be getting in return for what you are paying out your Travelling Dollars for.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!
