We are staying in Penzance for a week on 7th August, l'm looking forward to using the Jubilee pool.

I just wanted to know if its as good as it looks? Are there any tips about using the pool for the day?

Sorry Sorry Jubilee Pool was badly damaged during the storms of February 2014 and is now all boarded up and being repaired. Won't open until 2016 again.

Sea swimming happens most of the day in front of the pool. Walk past the War Memorial and follow the walk way. Early morning around 7 am or 11 am big group of swimmers.

They are nice people if you are not confident and will keep an eye on you. Sea temp 16 degrees at the moment. Please don't try this on your own. Strong tidal currents running.

Bude is a long way from Penzance, it's about as far apart as you can get and still be in Cornwall! It would probably be easier for you to get to Plymouth if you really want an outdoor pool.

But if you want a safe swim, you will be able to do this on beaches so long as you take reasonable care, maybe choose a beach with a lifeguard on duty.

Just along from Trevone beach near Padstow is a similar 'safe' pool which is enclosed by rocks on the beach (you have to walk round the headland from Trevone but it's not far. It's lovely and natural and very clear water. Not quite as far as either Bude or Plymouth.
