Mini break in Settle

We have been looking at Grassington for a few days break but have decided on Settle.

We only live 40 minutes away in Clitheroe, but are still finding our way round. Is Settle a smaller version of Clitheroe, and are we OK for eating out, pubs and takeaways.

I might have asked previously, apologies if I have.

Also is the Settle to Carlisle trip worthwhile.

Thanks for any info.

Have a look at link, it will give you an insight into this pleasant Yorkshire Market Town.

If you can do the train trip - I would, its well worth it. Lovely area - lots of walks, scenery and good honest Yorkshire hospitality.

Hi Howlo,

Thanks for that. I've had a look at the link it looks just what we need for a couple of days chill out.

Can you tell me when the train stops at Carlisle is it near to amenities as I can't walk too far (hip trouble). Luckily the cottage is 2 minutes walk into Settle village.

Thank you for your help.

There are plenty of food options - a couple of restaurants, pubs, an Italian, Indians, chippies. Carlisle station is 5 minutes walk from the centre so plenty of facilities close by, although I wasn't impressed with the town. The best scenery is between Settle and Appleby.

Thanks for that, I can understand what you mean about town centre, we did a road trip with the caravan last year and the first stop was Dumfries, we weren't impressed at all with the town but the countryside was nice.

Good to know there is somewhere for lunch etc.

Thank you.
