Getting to airport

Hi, we will be coming from Fort William next July 19th and flying out of Inverness airport. We will not have a car. I am assuming we can take a morning bus from Fort William (although it's too early to check yet) and hope to spend the afternoon in Inverness, perhaps taking a Loch Ness cruise. We have a 5:30pm flight back to London and I'm wondering what would be the best way for 3 of us to get from the city to the airport? Also, how early do we have to be at the airport for a domestic flight? Thank you!

A taxi from the city to the airport would be the simple solution, leaving about 4pm.

There is also the option of getting a bus to the airport (stagecoach is the name of the bus operator). You would need to check if the bus times were suitable closer to the time though. I'd aim to be there around an hour before the flight.

There will certainly be a bus in the morning. Timetables don't change much year to year.

The bus from Fort William skirts along the side of Loch ness so you would need to see where the boat cruise leaves from as it won't be Inverness. e.g. this one leaves from the Clansman Harbour so you would need to get off the bus there, take the tour, get another bus to Inverness and then get back in time to get to the airport for about 4pm.

Buses from there are only about every hour but this should be doable but will need planning.

Yes, you should be able to get an early morning bus from Fort William, but there is usually just one bus an hour: I recommend the N19. It takes a couple of hours. Transfers to Inverness airport are very easy. You get the No 11 bus to Nairn, which stops right outside the airport. The airport itself is small, and if you're flying to a UK airport, it is recommended to check in 2 hours before your flight time. If your schedule allows it, you might be able to fit in a mini cruise, but you would need to get off at the Clansman Hotel, do your cruise then get the bus into Inverness where you can get your connecting bus for the airport.
