Never eaten from the Lucky Star but heard similar comments locally from regulars. I can highly recommend the new Dinos fish and chip shop and pizzeria on Maybole Road, Ayr next to the new Tesco Express (where Floyds Hotel used to be). Superb chippy!

Would still recommend Dinos on Maybole Road for fish and chips, pizza made from scratch and Costley Ice-Cream by the cone or tub, but I probably wouldn't have fish on a Tuesday again. Lets just say it tasted a bit fishy. It happens.

We tried Marco's chippy in Fort Street the other evening and I can highly recommend it and at the minute he is doing a special in that all suppers are £4 - and you get a great helping for your money!!

You must mean that harbour shack where they sell proper fish and chips. By proper, I mean freshly battered, freshly caught cod.

Yes, tried Maybole Road -not for me thanks .

My other Top2 Awards would go to Barrassie Chippy , just off the shore front at Barrassie and a bit further afield - Girvan on Henrietta Street ,just on the corner near were the pool used to be ( don't want to insult them as I cant spell the name properly) Building is painted blue and white includes carry out and cafe ! But no toilet - so if you want to spend a penny they have an arrangement with the pub across the road -quirky !
