Cork Crawl

We’re heading over on the weekend and looking for a good crawl to do Saturday.

We’re having brunch in Crawford and Co then heading to popscene late in the evening soo, any suggestions for a few pubs in between please?

Benny McCabe runs all the best bars in Cork.

And the Mutton Lane Inn serves the best stout of them all.

Pizza in the Rising Sons for soakage.

Tell them Charger Salmons sent you.

I guess it depends on the age of your group and interests

The most direct route is down Copley St, George’s Quay, Parliament St and Prince’s St. There are only three bars on the route though

- Callanan’s - a nice, traditional pub with some of the cheapest drink prices in the city centre. But it’s closed in the afternoon and on a Monday and Wednesday.

- Fred Zeppelin’s - The place in the city if you want to listen to live Metal. Not the right place for almost any other purpose

- Clancy’s - a bar that has in Irish terms notions. It tends to attract an older crowd from the financial service and legal offices in that area.

An alternative is to walk down Anglesey St, Parnell Place and Oliver Plunkett St. There are way more bars this way.

- At the corner of Anglesey St and Union Quay, there’s a cluster of two pubs (Charlie’s, The Phoenix) and a wine bar (L’attitude). All are decent options.

- On Parnell Place, there’s the Poor Relation and the Welcome Inn. The first is Ok. The second is classify as nice.

- On Oliver Plunkett St and just off it, there are myriad bars catering to all tastes.
