Dublin and Surrounding Area

We are thinking of renting a vacation home in the center of Dublin for three days. We will have a car. Can you give us any suggestions on where to go/what to see? We have three teenagers (19,18, 13). Dublin will be the place where we will stay each night. Also, looking for a great traditional Irish pub.....not too touristy. Any suggestions?

Fellow Portlander:

It really is not a good idea to drive in Dublin, nor is it necessary with public tranportation. You can do a search on driving in Dublin and see what others think. There are plenty of things to do in Dublin and there are tours north and south out of the city which are very good. For a longer trip, you can take the bus to the airport and pick up a car there -- it is much more convenient. If you are coming in by car, I'd return it at the airport and come into the city on the bus.

Lots of information if you use the search box above. Just key in key words such as "pubs", "day trips" etc. You will get a wider cross section of information from fellow travellers, local experts.
