3pm Flight Out of Dublin

Would it be convenient to stay in Kilkenney the night before our return flight out of Dublin at 3pm on a Sunday? We will have a rental car to return. I'm thinking if we are on the road by 9am, we should be fine?

Any day I have a long haul flight to the US (assuming that's where you are flying to) I want to wake up in my departure city. I just don't want to risk buying a new ticket home at walk up prices.

Think flat tire, accident, road works etc. perhaps you have travel insurance that would make you more comfortable staying in Kilkenny, just not what I would do.

I assume you know that recommended check in time for a Transatlantic flight at DUB is at least three hours prior to scheduled departure.

What Sunday? Matches in Croke Park may have some effect.

It's just around 90 minutes to the airport from Kilkenny but if your flting to the US then maybe leave by 8.30. 9 is fine for short haul flight.

I'd start earlier than 0900 myself. I don't like to leave things to chance especially with a long haul flight at stake. My instinct would be to stay nearer to the airport the night before in order to have a more relaxing experience on the day of the flight.

You should aim to be at Dublin Airport by 1200 foir a flight to the US. You'll have to drop the car off first and who knows how long that may take?

Spent the best part of 40 minutes trying to get through Killenny city from the motorway over to the Freshford road this evening . A combination of arts festival ,match traffic and jay walking people with cameras stopping in the middle of the streets all added to the time .

Hence , I would leave a lot more time than you will think you may need .

I would plan on it taking at least two hours, ninety minutes is possible but not likely and dropping off a rental car is not like it is in the US Even if you have elite status.
