What a delightful old town

Thanks to someone on TA who suggested Auxerre as a location for leaving a hire car location before taking the train into Paris we visited and discovered what a delightful old town it is.

We had no idea that by following the "Cadet" route - and stopping for a drink we would discover Perrier Menthe - around town we would see so much medieval architecture.

In England visible timber frame is almost always painted black - here it was blue or other colours which look wonderful.

The Cathedral is lovely and we really enjoyed our few hours in Auxerre - it's well worth a visit.
