CDG Airport - duty free

Does anyone know what time the duty free shops open at CDG airport?

We are arriving in the early morning from the US.and were hoping to get some things (in particular I'm looking for a Longchamps bag which are expensive in the US) .

We aren't flying out of CDG (returning from Italy) so can't get it on the way home.

Varies from terminal to terminal, I think, but it should be opening around 7h30 IIRC.

I don't think it is possible to access the duty-free stores at CDG for arriving passengers. The duty-free stores are in the departure-lounge areas, you cannot access them without a ticket for a departing flight.

You can access some duty free shops between your landing gate and passport control. But, everything has two prices, duty free and non-duty free. You cannot get duty free prices without a boarding pass for a flight leaving Paris.

There's not that great a selection at CDG, anyway, so buy one in Paris and have them give you the detaxe paperwork (if the purchase qualifies by price).

you don't get duty free coming in; you get it going out and going to Italy is not leaving the EU even if you were flying

has anyone ever gotten an actual great deal at a duty free?

There's really not that much of a selection at duty-free shops.

I was hoping to find a set of Peugeot salt and pepper grinders because most are under the minimum. But, there were only a few at duty free and not what I had in mind.

I was hoping to get a Longchamps bag and the website showed a Longchamps store.

It seems though that since we're not flying out of CDG we can't get duty free.

We are flying from the airport at Beauvais to Pisa. I know Beauvais is a very small airport. Does anyone know if they have duty free there?

We're returning to US from Venice. Does anyone know if the airport there has duty free (or if its even worthwhile to check)?

Not me, Janet...years ago I used to buy a Clinique makeup set because it was everything I needed in one compact that I could keep in my briefcase...but it certainly wasn't a good deal.

You'll still save a lot if you purchase at the Longchamps store in Paris. I bought a medium Pliage for 65 Euros same bag in US is $125.

That comes to about $85 at the current exchange rate. (unfortunately for me the euro has been going up all week. now at about 1.3)

I think that's the way to go. I want a large le pliage which costs $145 in the US.

You will also have a much better selection of colors in Paris then at CDG.
