Sunday in Baden Baden

Hi TA folks,

Hubby and I will be in Baden Baden on a Sunday in early November, and will leave for Frankfurt airport the following morning after breakfast.

I wonder whether most shops/restaurants will be closed, or is the city large enough where we can still enjoy the city like any weekday?

If we just have one day in town, and we like nature better than sightseeing, what would be some things we can consider doing?

Also, how expensive are taxis in Baden Baden? We'd be staying in Leonardo Royal Hotel Baden Baden, and I think we'll need to get a taxi from the train station to the hotel.

Thanks and cheers,

Maya

Shops will be closed, bars/restaurants are alll open and busy. Baden Baden is really nice and if the weather is still holding up like now, you could still sit outside.

Baden Baden is also known for it's casino, so that might be an option. It is not like Vegas casinos, dress code is mandatory and a lot of people go there also only for Dinner or relax at the Bar

... before noon there are also guided tours through the casino. No dress code.

Baden-Baden has also Germany's biggest (and the 2nd biggest in Europe) Opera House.

Merkur Mountain

Lake Mummelsee / Hornisgrinde (highest peak of the northern Black Forest)

Connected by Baden-Baden city buses (but note that it's located nearly 1000 meters higher than Baden-Baden city itself; i.e. it will be more "fresh" up there)

Your hotel is close to the bus stop Baden-Baden Falkenstraße.

You can query with the DB (German Rail) timetable also for connections to addresses:

To: Baden-Baden, Falkenstraße 2

Taxi will be approx. EUR 23.

Baden-Baden train station is in the suburb Oos. To get a taxi will no problem. But there are also frequent bus connections.
