What to do for 4 days in Fussen

Hi! A party of 5, we booked a hotel in town, we will spend 4 and 1/2 days, April 2019. Apart fron the castles, waterfall and lakes etc. What else can we do? Are 4 days way too many? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

castles: don't forget to include the Hohes Schloss in Füssen. A real medieval castle, the best preserved late Gothic castles. Used by the Bavarian State Gallery.

Tegelberg: cable car, summer luge, Roman ruins

Wies Church: an UNESCO world heritage

Schwangau or Pfronten baths

Kempten (the biggest and oldest town in the area)

Apart from this you have of course endless hiking and cycling options in this area.

It does also not harm to check if there are any interesting events in the (way too) big Füssen Musical Theatre.

Your Füssen guest card will give you free public transport to the mentioned places/towns. And partly also discounts for the admission fees.

If you have a car, I'd suggest a drive to Oberammergau, Ettal monastery and Linderhof Castle. (you could do this in a day).

Hi Jessika C,

Well, even if you don't have a car, Oberammergau, Ettal, and Linderhof are easily do-able by bus and/or train. There is a direct bus from Füssen to Oberammergau at least twice a day.

You've been very helpful! Thanks! We will have a car. Everything looks fun and interesting. I am now more than convinced that it is going to be a great trip to Fussen and adjacent areas.

Also Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, is within easy reach from Füssen. It's just a 45 minutes drive to the cable car in Ehrwald on the Austrian side of the mountain: https://www.zugspitze.at/en/home/ Maybe you are also interested in the Ehrenberg castles and the hanging bridge. That is just south of Füssen in Austria: https://www.ehrenberg.at/en/

Zugspitze is only 1hour by car.

But if you dont like a a cable car (fear of heights) - you can use from Grainau a train to the Top of Zugspitze.
