easy walking routes

Visiting for the first time next April, for 1 week, and really looking forward to it. Would appreciate any advice on the following, we are staying at Jardin Tecina, looking for easy walks, not sure yet if we will hire a car, is this advisable? Best map/guide book/walk guide to buy? easy scenic day walks 8K max, Ideally 4-5 recommended walks , for variety & accessibility. Don't really want to join a walk group unless this is really recommended? open to all ideas , Thanks

There are not a lot of good guides to La Gomera available in the UK. I got a copy of

“La Gomera: The Finest Coastal and Mountain Walks - 61 walks “ and also the map “

La Gomera Tour & Trail Super-Durable Map” both of which are available on Amazon. I would advise also going to the tourist information centre down in the village and chatting to the very helpful staff there.

Playa de Santiago is not the best place to do walks from without a car. The only direct walk we did from there without recourse to the car was to walk up to Santa Ana which sits above the cliff that sits beside the village. Just walk down the promenade to the harbour and take a right just before the cliff and you will see a zig zag path up the side of the cliff.

I would hire a car as there are many must see places that are difficult to get to on public transport.

Yes not the best location for walks. Without a car, take the san Sebastian bus to Delegada de Peraza (nice bar for coffee) take the circular walk down to la laja and back to your start via Emita de los Nieves for the bus home. Take bus to Jerdune and then walk down to Tecina through the old villages. Take bus in airport direction to the end destination. Nice little village with several walks around there. All will be in the books. No need to join groups. Walks have been well cleaned and signposted in recent years.
