Change in location of SITA bus stop in Salerno (to Amalfi)

There is an IMPORTANT travel advisory on the SITA SUD TRASPORTI website:

Effective August 3, on an experimental basis, the current SITA bus stop directly in front of the Salerno train station has been eliminated. The SITA bus going to Cetara/Maiori/Minori/Atrani/Amalfi will stop at Corso Vittorio Emanuele 118 (in front of the Bar Bablu, 350 meters from the station).

DIRECTIONS TO BUS STOP:

1. Walking out the front doors of the station, proceed on foot across the square in the direction of the waterfront.

2. Turn RIGHT (west) onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

3. Walk three blocks (past the Automobile Club Salerno offices) to the bus stop in front of the Bar Bablu. You will be on the north side of the Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini parking lot, with the waterfront in sight.

4. Allow 5 minutes for the walk, which is entirely along paved sidewalks.

5. According to the SITA website, the Bar Bablu sells bus tickets (except when closed). Tickets should also be available from the newsstand inside the Salerno train station.

A single-use bus ticket to Amalfi costs 2.20 Euros. A 24-hour tickets (new) costs 8 Euros. Children under age 6 travel free, but are not entitled to a seat. Luggage should be placed in the underfloor compartment of the bus.

SCHEDULES are found in table 5120. Onward buses to Praiano/Positano in table 5070. Onward buses to Ravello in table 5110.

The bus stop of the SITA airport bus to Naples Airport has also changed, per the advisory. It is at the intersection of Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi and Via Luigi Barrella (very close to the station, turn LEFT as you exit the front doors).

The locations of both stops is very visible on Google Maps.

Per the travel advisory, the SITA airport bus to Naples Airport ALSO stops in front of the Bar Bablu along Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Salerno. Note that there are other bus operators on this route between Salerno and the Naples Airport (the SITA bus operates only from Monday through Friday, per the schedules in table 5002).

Please note that references in the two previous postings to Corso Vittorio Emanuele should read Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi. Please excluse this very serious oversight!

Corso Vittorio Emanuele (parallel to Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi) is pedestrianized!!!!!!!

hey GAC is this still the case or is it back to the station? I get there on 5/1 which is a sunday and a holiday. Train gets there at 9.21 AM and we want to be able to catch the next bus at 9.30. What would be the best spot to buy ticket knowing its a holiday?

If you read the original post you'll see that the stop at the station was eliminated last August. It was not a temporary change.

The bus stop directly in front of the Salerno train station was "suppressed" because of resurfacing of the square.

From this news article dated November 6 , 2015, it APPEARS that the bus stop in the square has now been RESTORED (albeit in a slightly different location).

Where to purchase the SITA bus ticket on May 1???????

Try the newsstand inside the Salerno station, or the coffee bar. Otherwise, it's "hit and miss", because so many ticket vendors will be closed on this major holiday.
