Free flights

I have wont free return flights to Cagliari with British Airways but would like to go on a beach holiday. Which is the nearest resort/beach that we could stay and how much would that be in a taxi? I know little about Sardinia.

Since you are going there why not get yourself a good travel book and read it, that would really enlighten you on Sardania and you could find out where the beaches are.

What time of year? Nearest beach resort is actually Cagliari itself, in the Poetto area. Cost from airport by bus & train just a few euros.

After that the small resorts, more like holiday villages ,such as Geremeas & Torre delle Stelle on the road to Villasimius & Costa Rei are the nearest to Cagliari airport.

No, Cagliari is the island's capital city. It has beaches on the edges (Poetto is the closest as noted) and smaller towns with beaches quite close by as mentioned in reply 2.

If you want to keep it simple and stay in Poetto, there are some good hotels and B&Bs there, as well as flats and villas to rent.
