Bus From Faro Airport via Faro for Seville Sun 19th Dec 2010
Save

Hi. I'm flying into Faro after 18.15 on Sunday 19th 2010. Is there any bus transport from Faro Airport into Faro, then Faro onwards to Seville (Spain) on the 19th.

I've been looking and looking and I've not found anything yet.

Any helpful suggestions or advice on the best way to do this.

You are arriving late in the day and will miss the last EVA/DAMAS Service from Faro to Seville.

alsa.es operate a nighttime service. (At the time of writing their site is down for maintenance)

Have a look here at the bottom of Cubsur's Portugal/Spain travel page:

There is a departure from Faro at 0145 arrive Seville Plaza das Armas at 0545.

There are two buses on Sunday evening from Faro Airport to Faro town at 18:57, and 20:07. Otherwise it will have to be a taxi.

Thanks for your help. I shall look into it. It's a pity there isn't a train line built yet between the Faro and Seville yet.

One can hope.

Thanks again.

Faro Bus Station at 0145 is not a place to want to be. The ticket office is closed and if you don't already have one you won't get on board. Best to think of a room in Faro for the night and make your way to Seville on the morning EVA bus. The Hotel Eva is right next to the bus station and the Hotel Faro across the road.

There was a hare brained scheme a few years ago to build a new high speed rail line to link the Spanish and Portuguese systems, but nothing will now come of that for many, many, years if ever.

If you like to go to Seville the evening of the 19th and you affraid that the Ticket Office is not open you have the option of buying your ticktet on their webpage www.alsa.es . also I am under the impression that all going well you will arrive on Faro Bus Station on time to buy your ticktet.

Feel frre to ask anything else yoy may need.

Have a nice Trip.

Well hope the ALSA website gets fixed soon!

Previously ALSA has never offered the option to buy tickets online for journeys from Portugal. So I tried, out of interest, and received this message:

Error al incluir portlet: invocation_failed_error

[Ljava.lang.Object;@4f604f60

ALSA does not have its own ticket office in Faro and so far as I and others here are aware the agency that works for them does not open at weekends.

All this will be checked of course!

ALSA does have telephone sales - details on their website.

There would still remain the 'problem' of what to do in Faro on a Sunday night in December for which the options are about zero.

Cubsur, you are correct!

I was in Faro yesterday a.m. catching the 08:20 Eva bus to Seville. The travel agency was not open and not much sign of life. OK is was Sunday. Like an idiot I did not check out the opening times.

Another possible place to stay is the Hotel Residencial S. Algarve which is a bout three blocks from the train and five from the bus station.

Go and eat at the Adega Nove,

Hi and thanks to everyone that has contributed sound and helpful advice. I was hoping my girlfriend or her family wouldn't have to cross the border from Spain to pick me up.

I actually thought there would have been better transport links between the two cities/countries.

However My girlfriend now looks like she or one of her family well come over and pick me up. Thankfully she is actually Spanish.

I shall be gettingt the bus back on my return leg from Sevilla.

Hopefully thsi will not be so much of a problem as I have a e-ticket already booked. Maybe if there are any professional companies looking at this, maybe it would be profitable and good business sense to start a much better regular bus service between the two countries/cities.

With a user friendly universal Portuguese/ Spanish / English website.

It'll be my first time using Faro to do onwards travel to Seville.

Any tips or advice to make the most of the airport facilities or that.

Thanks again for everyone posting really helpful advice.

There are two very good daily services running between Faro and Seville operated by DAMAS/EVA. However, they leave in the early morning and mid-afternoon.

There is at present not enough demand for an evening service.

Any way Seville to Faro is only a 1:45 minute run by car.

It is not easy to cross the border by any means of train or coach anywhere in the country, except perhaps for the various 8 hour coach journeys between Lisbon and Madrid.

Motorways and near universal car ownership have put paid to that.

The high speed rail line between Lisbon and Madrid is alleged to be under construction and open by 2015. I don't believe that for a moment!

So correct Cubsur!

However, I did see the other day in the press that the first sod on the stretch between the border and near Pinhal Novo is to be cut in January 2011. The contract has been let.
