eating out with kids in Cascais

Going to Cascais in April. Would love to take kids out to eat rather than just stay in hotel. Are there any equivalents to a 'pub type' meal where children can eat relatively cheaply?

Don't want to end up in pizzerias as the easy option but also don't want to order food that the kids won't enjoy and costs a fortune.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The portuguese take their kids to eat out at almost every restaurant, most of the times (if they are small) they share their parents meals. At lunch you'll find lots of restaurants whit "menu do dia" (the days special menu) that is very cheap and, usually, includes soup, main course, desert and soft drinks. Also some restaurants have "meia dose" (literally "half portion") that is cheaper, and some will have a kids menu (usually some kind of pasta, steak, etc).

Most of them are not formal, one of the places, where the locals go, are the ones at Av. Vasco da Gama. But there are also options at Largo Luís de Camões (lots of tourits there).

O Poeta in the central square is very welcomg to all including kids. Well all of them are really. O Poeta has a very good menu and the food is consistently good I found. For your sweet and if you like Italian Ice Cream, there is a shop not far from the square with a vast range of in house made ice cream. I went every night with my holiday partner.
