There are lots of good daytour destinations around Malmö such as Ystad, Helsingborg/Kullen peninsula or Skanör/Falsterbo for beaches. You should cross over to Malmö for a visit to the famous Tivoli with rides for all ages. There is also an older amusement grounds just north of Copenhagen (Bakken) which some prefer due to its old wooden roller coaster.
Hope somebody else has kids activities for you in Malmö.

With the same sticker/ticket you can vist the castle (where at least the prison cells and the aquarium is interesting for kids): https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie…
Folkets park is fun for a 4 year old (playground, jumping pillow and tricycles): https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie…
Tosselilla is a 50 min car ride away. Just a few thrill rides, but the water park is good. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-…
Not sure if it is by choice but you are hitting Malmöfestivalen (Malmöfestivalen.se) meaning all of down town is basically a market fair and a lot of bands playing (all concerts are free). It focus a lot on food so a lot of those stalls are really good. So regardless if that is your thing or not plan for it :).
There is a viking museum (foteviken) about 15 miles to the south of your kids are into that (I haven't been so cannot say more).
For your youngest there is a really nice playground close to turning torso (sollekplatsen on Google maps).
There's a special kids area at Malmötestivalen with all-day activities.
It's in the park Slottsparken opposite the city library.
