How to get to Jotunheimen from Lillehammer without a car?

Hello everyone,

I would like to go at the weekend to Jotunheimen national park. Does anyone know what is the best (maybe the only) way how to get there by public transport? Thanks.

The best way is to take Øst-Vest-ekspressen from Lillehammer to Fagernes and bus from Fagernes to Gjendesheim. Unfortunately the bus to Gjendesheim only runs during the summer season. The closest you get with public transport in fall and winter is Beitostølen: http://www.jvb.no/ruter/index.htm

Hi, thanks a lot for the answer! If we get to Beitostolen, is it already a place where we can start a walk and see something or do we need to get somewhere else from there?

Yes, you may walk from Beitostølen, see suggested hikes here: http://ut.no/sted/829126 (In Norwegian, try google translator)
