Bergen fjord tour - what to do?

I'm in bergen for all of Sunday and then Monday until around 7pm when my flight leaves.

What fjord tour could I do? Is there a basic one that isn't too expensive??

Choices are a real fjord tour that takes all day - on Sunday - see Norway in a Nutshell in Top Questions.

Alternative a 3 hour trip to Mostraumen - https:/…fjordcruise-bergen-mostraumen-p838433

Now you have a choice of Norway in a Nutshell, minicruise to Mostraumen and the Hardangerfjord express to Rosendal.

Thanks for your responses. I've had a look through the various tours and some of them infact aren't available this month so that's out. At the moment the 3 hour fjord cruise from Bergen to Mostraumen seems like the best option, reasonably good value. Has anyone done it, do you recommend this one??

Did you do this tour afterall? The reviews are mixed about what you really get to see fjord-wise. Thanks

Hi Wheels,

Just did the Bergen – Mostraumen fjord tour the other day, Sunday afternoon. Overall, it was decent but not amazing. The fjords themselves were not as narrow as I thought but there were some pretty looking settlements and farmsteads and then later on waterfalls which kept it interesting. However we didn’t get the chance to taste the fresh mountain water from one of the waterfalls as advertised for some reason. They didn’t even mention it. Infact it’s not a guided tour, you just have some British woman (who happens to speak perfect Norwegian as well) regularly talk you through some of the sights over the loud speaker. It would have been more authentic to have a proper local Norwegian guide in the flesh guiding you through the cruise.

For the price you pay I’m not sure whether it’s really worth it but you’re limited on time then it’s a good taster I suppose. If you have more time and money, then perhaps the longer tours are a better option.

The highlight of my trip though was definitely the train ride from Oslo to Bergen the day before. As it is still spring time, there was plenty of snow left on the ground and the higher up we went, the more snow there was. Seeing tiny little settlements and lone houses completely submerged in the snow was magical and it was some of the best scenery/landscapes I've ever seen.
