My husband, parents and I are staying in Lipari from Aug 19-21. We are staying in Cefalu the night before Lipari and heading to Taormina after, so we were planning to leave for Lipari from Milazzo port. While I know the hydrofoil, or fast ferry, is faster, I like the idea of taking a regular ferry, ie one where we can sit outside during the trip and take in the view and fresh air. I know those are much slower. But I’ve taken hydrofoils in Italy before and don’t relish the idea of being trapped inside again, with no access to the outside, even if it means making the trip in half the time. My question is — is there actually the option of a “regular” ferry to Lipari that lets passengers sit or stand outside during the voyage? I can’t tell from the websites. Has anyone actually taken it and what line is it? If not, and we are stuck inside for all of the various boat options, then I’ll just book us on the hydrofoils.
Thank you in advance!
