Goslar to Stave Church in Hahnenklee

Hello all,

We are planning our first excursion into Northern Germany this Christmas. We have a week in Hannover to explore the area (Hameln, Bremen, Braunschweig, Köingslautter, Wolfenbüttel and Celle) then the weekend in Goslar.

Can we get to the stave church in Hahnenklee using public transport (train? bus? taxi?).

I'm planning a visit to the Kaiserpfalz and the Town Hall, is there anything else in the area that is a must see that we can get to?

Thanks Abalada that's exactly what I need.

You have to love that DB site! I'm just waiting now for them to update the timetable so I can book some of my travel (We start after Dec 12).

The UNESCO World Heritage list actually got me onto this region too.

The best deal for most of your trips will be a Niedersachsen Ticket (Lower Saxony Ticket).

bahn.de/i/…lower-saxony-ticket.shtml

Leaflet with a useful map on the last page

bahn.de/regional/view/mdb/pv/deutschland_erl…

In the areas with a grey or dark grey background you can use all means of local public transport (trams and buses) in the areas with white background only the regional trains.

Not covered are long distance trains (IC/EC and ICE).

You can buy this ticket on spot. To plan trips with a Niedersachsen Ticket select a the DB timetable as means of transport "only local transport".

Thanks for the links. If I underst the ticket correctly we can travel after 9am (me, husband and kids 13&19) for €35 for the whole day. The areas you have indicated allow us to use local transport (but not in Celle). I assume this would be cheaper than point to point tickets for our day trips (even to Hahnenklee and back from Goslar?)

I'm just waiting for a chance to book Amsterdam to Hannover. Do you know when the new timetable comes out?

Yes.

Celle is surely walkable.

> (even to Hahnenklee and back from Goslar?)

No. Inside one local public transport associations - here the VRB - you have normally even better offers.

Day ticket for 4 persons Goslar to Hahnenklee is EUR 14,40. And no "from 9am on weekdays" restriction.

Early/mid October.

I would agree that the Rammelsburg mine is a must see, we especially enjoyed watching the glockenspiel after our visit there. If you are a history buff the Tin museum gives a very thorough account of the history of the area.
