training from Paris to Bouillon Castle

How easy is it to get to Bouillon Castle for a day tour out of Paris?

Can someone recommend this tour as a day trip out of Paris?

We have already purchased Benelux-France rail passes which would get us on a train. Which train, which station?

I would appreciate detailed train advice.

Thank you

Not very and no I wouldn't, given that the journey would take at least 4 hrs each way! First you would either have to take the Thalys from Paris-Nord to Bruxelles-Midi (1h22) or TGV from Paris-Est to either Luxembourg or Thionville, and then another train to Libramont (2h09 from Brussels), from where you would have to take a bus (almost 1hr) or taxi to Bouillon.

For train timetables http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en entering PARIS as departure (to get departures from both Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est) and Libramont as destination.

For bus timetables, try www.tec-luxembourg.be/index.aspx… and fill in under "validez" 8 Libramont - Bouillon ; but at this time of year - during school holidays - the bus runs only every 2 hrs and the last one you can reasonably catch to have a couple of hours at the castle would be the 10:57, arr. 11:41 - which you could only do by catching the 06:25 Thalys and even then you would have only one minute to spare to catch the bus at Libramont - or a 2 hr wait till the 12:57, or else, of course, a taxi.

Plus, Thalys and TGV require supplements to your Eurail passes - I hope you didn't buy these without first working out the cost of individual tickets to wherever you intend going... You will have to be travelling extensively in France because even the official guide put out by Rail Europe admits that it is virtually impossible to get value for money out of these in the Benelux!

Thank you so much for your helpful advice, which aids us in planning our trip. This is the kind of information that is difficult to research on the internet and rail sites.
