We actually ate there on our unexpected night in Sfakia last week and it was delicious. Just been back to Sfakia and noticed the sign had changed!! I’m sure it’s the same owners as last week though.

"the three Brothers" existiert nicht mehr. Eine Frau (Russischer Herkunft,...soll jetzt nicht diskriminierend klingen!!) führt die Taverna "ZOE", sowie die Appartements-und die Strandliegen.

Die Gastgeberin war sehr unfreundlich und schmuddelig und hat oft lauthals ihre Angestellten vor Gästen herumkommandiert und angeschrien. Es herrscht dort eine ganz negative Stimmung.

Wir haben 2x in der Taverna Zoe gespeist. Das erste Mal war wirklich lecker (gegrilltes Kotelette), das 2. Mal: frische Calamari fried ->grauenhaft schlecht!! Entweder war die Panade ranzig oder das Frittierfett alt. Der Service hat unendlich lange gedauert und sie waren mit allem überfordert, obwohl nur 4 Tische belegt waren.

Wir können alle Tavernen unten am Hafen wärmstens empfehlen, man wird dort herzlichst bedient und hat eine Vielfalt an einheimisches leckeres Essen.

(Wir haben eine Woche oberhalb der Taverna Zoe im Juli'23 dort Urlaub gemacht!!)

She is the wife if Giannis Kouris who is the (former?) owner of the Three Brothers.

We ate in the taverna last Sunday. The meal was good, but they no had Cachiet Machine for the bill and no POS for to pay with visa. They gine to us the bill in a simple paper!

I'm a bit concerned because usually, by now (after Easter) when looking at the Vrissi Beach webcam, I can see the tables out and sometimes even sunbeds on the beach - plus, the second worrying thing is that the ZOE sign has lost it's letters and there's nothing on it. Other places in Crete are getting their tables out, restoring winter damage etc. I do hope this taverna is opening soon !

I think because the 2 Easters are so far apart this year, with Easter in Greece not until 5th May, restaurants are opening slowly. Often there's an unofficial agreement in a village as to who is going to open up first, then until there are more tourists arriving it's not worth the others getting paid staff etc. Especially for those not on the main path through, they're reliant on people knowing them or using the beach. They might start opening for weekends soon, fingers crossed

Kalispera jennywren31, I wouldn't worry about it. In previous years, the Three Brothers taverna has always opened a little later than the other tavernas in Chora Sfakion. We also have the 8th of April.

The terrace always looked deserted and there was often a car parked there.

I've been on the south coast since 25 March and haven't seen a beach open yet.

Nobody will be lying on the beach today as the weather changed yesterday. It was very windy during the night. Today it's cloudy and it's raining on and off.
