July Trip - Several Questions

I will be coming to Coogee in July and staying 6 days 2 days will be spent touring, but I will have to meet the tours because they do not start in Coogee. I know it is winter but it is business related. My flight arrives at 7:25 pm and departs at 9:55 am. Thank you in advance for helping me with all my questions.

What is the best way to/from get to Coogee and SYD airport?

How is public transportation for daily travel within the Sydney are from Coogee?

Should I get an Opal Card?

Is any balance on an Opal Card refundable when I leave?

Any restaurant suggestions for the Coogee area?

Taxi from airport to Coogee is easiest

Buses to the city (30 mins to Opera House area) or a bus to Bondi Junction to catch a train - use this link to plan your trip

tp.transportnsw.info/nsw/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2

Get a Opal card if using public transport - cheaper tickets and nearly everybody now uses the card

No refund on unused balance for a visitor (unless you have a local bank account)

Agree taxi. You will need to a opal card, load up $20. Easily available at a newsagent or corner store. You will need to have an opal card to use the buses departing from the city centre as no cash fares allowed. All very easy and straight forward...just follow the locals.

Coogee is well served by buses, plenty of routes and high frequency.

Oh you have to eat/drink at the Pavilion right at the northern end of the beach. It is a huge, old but newly renovated building open all day with lots of different bars, a coffee area and various eating places. We loved it day or night. Great for for a pre-dinner drink and people watching late on a Sunday afternoon. There are lots of places to eat in Coogee but the Pavilion for us interstaters, was something quite different with beaut views of the beach. Hope that helps.
