1.5 day in Tallinn... Suggestions

Dear Friends,

Me and my wife are arriving in June at Tallinn from India and have just 1.5 days in Tallinn as we actually have a conference in Riga but decided to see Tallinn as well.

We arrive in the afternoon by 1 pm.and will check-in at our hotel. By say 3 pm, we have time to see around and the next day too. on Day 3, we plan to leave to Riga in the morning as we need to be in Riga by noon.

I understand the days are long which can be an advantage.

Will plan to stay in a hotel in the old town...

Can you please suggest an itinerary where we can cover all the main sights...can we walk or do we need transportation.

Also, we are foodies...would be happy to receive recommendations of good restaurants... especially the ones where locals eat and drink.

We would also be happy to do some walking tours if there are any.

Is Forex card widely accepted or should we carry cash?

Looking forward to some suggestions please to make our small Holiday memorable.

Thank you...

Hello!

Tallinn has a nice old town, it is even UNESCO world heritage sight. Maybe it is best to visit it with a local guide first and after discover by yourself. One of possibilities is here:

There is a nice sea-promenade from near harbour to Seaplane museum, which is one of grandest European maritime museum. meremuuseum.ee/lennusadam/en/opening-times/

If you would like to see Estonian traditional architecture and local traditions, then I recommend to visite Estonian Open Air museum. For that take a bus 21 or 21B from Balti jaam railway station or Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak) to the museum's gate (stop Rocca al Mare).

In Estonia is usually possible to pay with Maestro or Visa cards, even small shops in Tallinn accept payment with card.

In old town there are lots of restaurants, some of them have a nice interior of medieval houses: f.ex Von Krahli Aed https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Revie… or Leib Resto ja Aed https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Revie…

Hope my explanation was helpful. Have a nice stay in Tallinn!

If you like your food do walk or tram to Balti Jaam, it's only 10 min walk from north part of old town.

Go through there to food halls and market, continue you past to Telliskivi area, lots of interest around there and F-Hoone bistro/restaurant very interesting. I mentioned it on my recent trip report. I'd go back for sure and dwell around that area some more.
