Rocky Mountain National Park

My husband and I are coming to Denver April 22-26. I wanted to take a day trip (possibly staying overnight) out to see the Stanley Hotel and Rocky Mountain National Park. I've been reading other threads in the forum and have figured out that the road will be closed until May. What options do I have to see wildlife and scenery?

RMNP is open 365 days a year. See my reply #3 at this recent topic for scenic drive options from Denver to Estes Park and through Estes Park/RMNP during the time of your visit.

You can take a tour of the Stanley Hotel but I would consider spending the night somewhere else.

Estes Park has many highly rated lodging businesses. Don't limit your search to hotels.

Trail Ridge Road that traverses the park east/west will be closed but most roads will be open. Plenty of scenery without driving TRR. It's a nice quiet time to visit RMNP. April is still considered "winter" in the mountains so there will be snow and it may snow at that time.

Our DE has written an informative post about visiting the park in winter: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g14304…

If you are keenly interested in both learning about and viewing wildlife in RMNP, consider a winter wildlife safari with Yellow Wood Guiding.
