Commuting to Burbank from Acton

Commuting to Burbank from Acton

My husband and I may need to relocate from ohio to CA. My office is in Burbank. We are used to land and a more rural lifestyle coming from Ohio. Acton sounds like a great community - is it reasonable to commute? Is the rail system easy / convenient or is it easier to drive? Appreciate any insights or suggestions....

Hi - Acton is a great place to live (I used to live in Burbank). Commute isn't too bad either. Everyone who lives up here basically works down the hill. Morning commute can be pretty bad if you leave between 5:30-7:00 AM, ride home isn't as bad. If you can get out before 5:30 you will be fine, or start later in the morning. Any later and it can really back up in Santa Clarita. Easier to drive than it is to take the train. I've heard it's not very reliable. I commute to Pasadena but I take Angeles Crest over the mountain. That wouldn't work to Burbank. Commute is 50 minutes, beautiful drive, no traffic. There are a lot of vanpools and carpool commuters you could hook up with.

Acton to Burbank with no traffic - 40-45 minutes. Acton to Burbank with traffic... Anywhere from 50 mins to 3 hours if it's really bad with multiple accidents and rain. Might as well stay home and telecommute!

Don't want to discourage you, it's quite doable and you will love Acton.

My sister used to live in Acton, worked in and around Burbank. Hated the drive after about 3 months of living there. Plus tarantulas and rattlesnakes! But the house and area was really nice.

Another thing to consider is the location of the office in Burbank to the train station. Some larger companies might have vans from the Metrolink station but if the office is further away, you'll need to consider bus time as well. It may be easier just to drive. A lot of people commute from the Acton/Antelope Valley area down to Burbank and the rest of LA. Have you looked into Agua Dulce? It's a little closer and still pretty rural. There are also some areas in the Santa Clarita Valley that are rural with larger lots, if that's what you're looking for.
