Staying over at Anaheim

Hi

We are staying over at one of the local Disney hotels 10 minutes walk from the park and wanted to know if there is any good shopping malls nearby before heading back to hollywood the next morning or anything worth seeing.

Thanks

Will you have a car? Or will you be relying on public transport and Uber/Lyft?

Great! There is lots worth seeing. Most of what I can think of is in the opposite direction from Hollywood. But here are some ideas.

1. Laguna Beach. Lots of art galleries and restaurants, plus a lovely beach at Main Beach. You could start there and drive up Pacific Coast Highway, spend the morning making stops in Crystal Cove, Newport & Balboa, Huntington and Seal Beach, then head to Hollywood. It would be a great beach tour.

2. For shopping I like Irvine Spectrum, it is an outdoor shopping center. But if you want to see high end shops then Fashion Island in Newport Beach would be good. South Coast Plaza is a HUGE shopping complex in Costa Mesa. This might be your best bet because there are stores here that run the gamut of price and luxury. But none of these are on your way TO Hollywood.

3. The Block at Orange has outlet type stores and is also an outdoor shopping mall and there are a couple fun restaurants there to try. And there is also the Citadel in Commerce which is the most "on your way" to Hollywood. It is an outlet mall as well.

You could also aim for Long Beach or Santa Monica. Santa Monica is nice because it has the beach and the 3rd Street Promenade Shopping District. OR, you could go to The Grove in Los Angeles and the adjacent Farmer's Market. That may be on your list of things to do while in LA, but its a great shopping area. And my dad, who was born in Orange County in the 1930's, used to go to the Farmer's Market during summer camp. So it's an institution.

Hope this helps a bit, you can google all those shopping malls on the internet and see which one appeals the most. Then come back here (or the LA forum) once you decide and we can give you more details about restaurants and other ways to improve your visit.

Outlets at Orange, then head to Hollywood. Avoid driving between 4-7:30 pm or you'll be stuck in bad traffic.
