Very much so! You and your pup will enjoy the downtown area that allows pets on a leash with various watering stations. Some shop owners allow pets inside and there are several restaurants offering outdoor seating so that your pooch can dine with you (Boss Oyster, Pendleton's, Tamara's). St. George Island is one of a few beaches in the state allowing visitors to bring their dogs on the beach to frolic in the surf and play in the sand. So sorry to hear that your boy lost his companion. I hope that the trip is a real treat!
Thank so much for the information! We have visited Apalachicola but not with our doggies. We look forward to sharing this fun town with our little guy!
We are actually staying on SGI so that's great info!!!
Just sent you a PM about the Mardi Gras parade. Hope that you will be able to attend The BourBone Street Parade on 2/10. The festivities will start at 11:00 am at Riverfront Park with live entertainment from the Apalachicola Blues Authority, the Lofty Pursuits Marching Band, and other local bands as well a dog agility demonstration and performances by local dancers and second line groups. There will be a wide variety of local food and beverage vendors to choose from that include local seafood, smoked and grilled specialties, handmade chocolates, gumbo, a hot dog stand, and a seafood raw bar. In addition there will be a wide variety of local arts and crafts vendors selling their wares as well as specialty beads for sale. Regional non-profit organizations will share their missions at the festival in unique ways. You won't want to miss the pair of real, live Baymaids, Doofy, the rescue pelican, and the Fishy Fashion Show preview. The King and Queen of Apalachicola's Mardi Gras are always shelter animals who are ready for a forever home. They will, as usual, have a place of honor in the parade. The parade begins at 1:00 at the intersection of Avenue E and Water Street. After passing Riverfront Park and turning right on Avenue D the procession will turn right on Commerce Street taking revelers past the Oyster City Brewing Company and continuing on Commerce before circling back to Water Street and ending at Riverfront Park for the post parade party.
Oh shoot. That sounds like so much fun! We are not arriving until Feb. 20. Sorry we will miss it!Edited: 31 January 2018, 19:07
