Imp Question

Hello everyone

Do we need to have belize money when we get to the airport to get to Belize city to catch a bus to San Ignacio. As we will take a taxi to the city and then bus , or will they accept US dollars. as i am trying not to exchange money at the airport as it is the worse exchange rate usually . we leave in 2 weeks

US dollars are widely accepted in Belize. Taxi drivers and bus conductors will take it.

Make sure the notes are in good to excellent condition because notes with tears or writing might not be accepted.

And bring notes of smaller denominations.

There's really no need to change any money before you come to Belize. If you use USD, you'll get Belize dollars as change. Make sure to spend it all (especially coins) before leaving Belize because it will be difficult to exchange outside Belize.

And the fixed exchange rate used for general transactions is US$1 = BZ$2.
