Family safari to Zimbabwe?

We are planning to come to Tanzania and Botswana for safaris in the summer of 2011. It has been suggested to us that we may want to consider a side-trip to Zimbabwe, staying 3 nights each at Little Makalolo and Ruckomechi (sp?). We are a family of 5 with 3 children ages 12,13 and 16. Has anyone else considered doing this? What do you think?

I see no problems in taking your family to Zim - I would especially recommend Ruckomechi - Mana Pools is a very special place indeed.

Been to those parks, but not the particular camps. Great destinations for walking and canoeing. Very special is an apt description of Mana Pools. If it fits with the rest of your trip, why not? But Tanzania, Botswana, and Zimbabwe is covering a lot of ground so you'd want adequate time.
