From JHB to Mlibizi

Hello :)

This Year a group of us are traveling up to Zimbabwe. Dates are 27/12/12-4/01/13. We have heard that Beit Bridge is a nightmare during that period so are considering going through Botswana.

We need to get to Mlibizi to get on the Ferry (28/12/12) which will be taking us to Kariba, however, we are not sure of the right route to take- Taking into consideration the period we will be travelling, roads, border posts etc.

Please can someone advise on which border posts to go through to get us to Mlibizi and would one recommend a nights stay over before the Ferry or can the trip be done in a day?

Thanking you in Advance,

Michelle :)

Hi Michelle

I would recommend going via Martins drift between SA and Botswana and then through Plumtree between Botswana and Zimbabwe. This will be your most direct and shortest route. On the map the Pandamatenga route might look shorter, but the roads are quite bad unless you are in high clearance 4x4's

I would say that is a pretty big drive in one day, so you could either stop over in Francistown or Bulawayo.
